Nail to thumb
Pressure applied
Without hesitation
I spit out a lie

Plastered on smile
Small toothy grin
These words so practiced
So close to a sin

Eyes glazed over
No emotion to see
My monotone voice
Hides the true me

Breathing so even
Body so still
Quickly I strike
Go in for the kill

Dropping your shoulders
You finally resign
As I mutter the words
"I told you, I'm fine."
